Courses and events

The Introductory Days are currently aimed primarily at doctoral students in the Dr. sc. hum. programme, but other young researchers can also participate. Topics include the local and regional research environment, structured programmes, resources for doctoral students, key competences and, above all, good scientific practice. This event takes place several times a year, usually in English.

Science and Pizza is a monthly seminar series organised by the STMM members. Scientists and PIs from the UMM and other institutions present their research and answer the young researchers‘ questions in an informal atmosphere with a slice of pizza.

The Innovation Day, jointly organized by STMM and the TMR/IMIM Master's programs, targets all early-career researchers interested in entrepreneurship and start-ups. During the networking lunch, attendees can discuss any questions directly with representatives from regional networks and organizations dedicated to entrepreneurship and company formation.

The STMM Career Day focuses on career development, career opportunities, and training in relevant soft skills (e.g., presentation skills, networking), as well as providing insights into industry and academic career paths. Guest speakers and companies present themselves and share real-world examples from their work.

The Summer Symposium is organised annually by a group of STMM members and focuses on scientific exchange. At the event, early career researchers present posters and give short talks about their research work that should be accessible to a multidisciplinary audience. External keynote guest speakers are also invited. Additional workshops on key scientific skills and subject-specific topics round up this event.

After many successful years of STMM and IMIM Industry and Innovation Days we are moving on to different formats and have divided the event into an Innovation Day and a Career Day
