Our faculty offers interdisciplinary study courses leading to a Master of Science (MSc) degree. All are internationally-oriented condensed programmes aimed at graduate students with a first degree in a related field.
The accredited programmes are taught in English and have a modular structure and credit point system (based on the European Credit Transfer System – or ECTS). As a result, the programmes are compatible within the European framework for higher education and internationally recognized.
International Master in Innovative Medicine
Established in 2016, the Medical Faculty Mannheim offers an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree-programme in Innovative Medicine. Applications for the upcoming winter term need to be sent to the main coordination in Groningen, usually until mid-January of the respective year.
Translational Medical Research
The focus of the MSc in Translational Medical Research is the translation of knowledge, mechanisms, and techniques of basic molecular and cellular research into new approaches for diagnosis and treatment of disease as well as the translation of unmet clinical needs back to the laboratory to inspire basic research questions. In this manner, the programme builds upon the interface between experimental basic science, translational research methods and models, and clinical medicine. Given the importance of commercialisation in effective translational medical research, students also receive training in innovation and entrepreneurship. The programme systemically provides students (who must have a medical or bioscience background) with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in the frontier of translational medical research in an interdisciplinary team. Reflecting the research foci of our Faculty, courses focus on Molecular Oncology, Neurobiology, Vascular Biology and Medicine, and medical technology amongst many other areas. This provides graduates with an excellent basis for transitioning to appropriate doctoral programmes.
