Prof. Dr. Thomas Mayrhofer has been Professor of Health Economics at the Mannheim Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University since October 2024. Prior to that, he was Professor of Economics at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences, where his responsibilities included helping to establish the master’s program in Health Economics. He was also a lecturer at Harvard Medical School and a member of the research faculty at the Cardiovascular Imaging Research Center (CIRC) at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was responsible for data analysis and health economic evaluations of international, multicenter, NIH-funded clinical trials.
In his research, Prof. Mayrhofer focuses in particular on higher-order risk preferences, medical decision theory and analysis, the application of biostatistical methods, and health economic evaluations. His work encompasses both theoretical and empirical/experimental approaches.
