Welcome to the Division of Health Economics. Established in October 2024, the division is headed by Prof. Dr. Thomas Mayrhofer. Our research focuses on health economic evaluations (especially using simulation models), medical decision making, the elicitation and analysis of (patient) preferences (particularly higher-order risk preferences), the application of biostatistical methods, and the development and validation of AI applications in medicine. The Division's research currently encompasses three research focuses:
- AI and Data Science in Medicine
- Preferences and Decision-Making
- Health Economic Evaluations
Researchers in the division work empirically, theoretically, and experimentally. All of our research areas share a direct connection to primary and/or secondary prevention. Digital health also plays a central role, particularly in our work on health economic evaluation and AI applications in medicine
